No, it would be 38 weeks from the day the egg was fertilized, usually 1-3 days after sex.
Keep in mind that a "due date" doesn’t mean you should check your watch and say okay, it’s time to go into labor now, it’s just a rough estimate. Many first time pregnancies go 2 weeks overdue (which would be 40 weeks from conception), and a "full-term" pregnancy can end up to 3 weeks early (which would be 35 weeks from conception). Any earlier than that and the baby is considered a "preemie" and may not be fully developed & need extra care.
How To Estimate Your Due Date
You can estimate your due date by adding 40 weeks (280 days) to the first day of your last menstrual period. This assumes that you conceived exactly 2 weeks after the first day of your last period. It also assumes that you will carry the baby for 38 weeks.
Another way to calculate your due date is to:
Determine the first day of your last menstrual period
Add 7 days
Subtract 3 months
Add 1 year
For example, if your last menstrual period began on April 1, 2006, you would calculate your due date as follows:
April 1, 2006 + 7 days = April 8, 2006
April 8, 2006 – 3 months = January 8, 2006
January 8, 2006 + 1 year = January 8, 2007
Your estimated due date would be January 8, 2007.
Well it is not just when you had sex so much as when you ovulated and when you conceived.
I actually conceived on the weekend of the Feb 24 and 25-I know this because of the LH surge. My due date is Nov 17-however-if you were to go by the first day of my last period I would have been due Nov 21. All my measurements support that the baby was conceived on the weekend that I had the surge-but it is earlier then the typical 14 of ovulation most people go with-but I have a shorter cycle.
Okay so with that being said-nope not 40 weeks exactly from the date of sexual intercourse-there are more factors that contribute to the due date.
